Corn Maze

I believe this is the last of the unpublished October pictures... our corn maze adventure.

This particular day was ridiculously sunny.  I decided to finally try a polarized filter...  I had read that these filters could be tricky, as you need to alter your camera settings to compensate for the "sunglasses" covering your lens.  Once I got the hang of it, it wasn't too bad.

You know how the sky always looks pale blue or white in photos, when in reality, it's a beautifully rich blue?  Look at the difference between the contrails and the sky above.  The polarized filter is the only thing making the sky so blue (no editing involved).  I think I'll definitely be using this filter a lot next summer.

Lucas insisted on leading the way... we got lost... for a long time.  Jack somehow stayed asleep in my Mei Tai wrap the entire time!
Lucas got his first experience peeing outdoors... I mean, we were really lost... who knew how long it would take us to find our way back to the barn?
We finally found a lookout tower that gave us a cheater's vantage point.  Okay, not really.  We were still lost.

We made it out!  ...after an hour and a half of walking in circles, we treated ourselves to the biggest roundest pumpkin we could find :)

Outdoor Mini Playscape

The weather here has been beautiful lately.  I had to get Lucas playing outside.

Have you ever looked at your normal, run-of-the-mill, I-change-diapers-therefore-I-don't-have-energy-to-weed side yard and seen new little worlds full of imagination?  I remember seeing them when I was younger.  I sort of lost my imagination, but I'm slowly gaining it back as my boys get a little bit older.

Lucas was so excited when I told him we were going to take his dinosaurs outside.  After smiling, giggling, and jumping up and down... he very quietly says, "Mommy?  But my dinosaurs need a place with water to play in..."

Hehe!  We were so on the same page!  I grabbed a round cake pan, put it on the edge of our gravel driveway, built rocks up around it, decorated the area with a few small fake trees... and Voila! Instant magical small world!

Busy day at the watering hole :)

Autumn Leaves

Sunday afternoon, we went to a 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration for Jason's great Aunt and Uncle.  Those of you who have small children may understand when I say that keeping them quiet and non-destructive indoors for very long is near impossible... unless they're sleeping.  The Lion's Club building where the celebration was held was on beautiful land.  Tall orange-, yellow-, and red-leafed trees; leaves covering the ground; freshly-painted, bright-white picnic tables; sunny fields in the distance; late afternoon/early evening light shining through the trees.  I couldn't have asked for better pictures!

In case you wonder... no.  I did nothing to enhance his eyes.  God gave him those!

Silly boy refuses to look at the camera :)
Most of the Wright, Hewitt, Hopkins guys in attendance

Fun Outside (before it got too hot...)

Run, Run, Run, As fast as you can! You can't catch me! I'm the gingerbread man!

Whenever Lucas has a large quantity of toys (magnets, cars, pens), he always lines them up in a row before playing with them :)
