Lucas loves that his daddy runs mud obstacle races, so we decided to use that as a theme for his 3rd birthday party!
See how we did it after the break...
The starting gate: 5...4...3...2...1...Go!!!
Climbing through a rope web
Carrying logs as fast as you can from one point to another
Crawl, crawl! (These are pool noodles set on plastic tent stakes)
Hop, hop, hop!
Through the tunnel...
Over the leaves (I think there were 3 big piles)
Past the gladiator! (It's just a baton-shaped pool noodle :) and to the finish line!
I found little medals at a party supply store to give the kids when they finished (see the second picture up above... that was his second time around). The older kids were so competitive and so funny to watch.
Dinner was made to look like a race concession stand. I think I confused some people by my race menu (it was supposed to be a joke :)... oh well). My brother said I should have done something like "Hot Dog...3 jumping jacks."
My sister made the obstacle course cake.
We ate hot dogs around a bonfire. It was a cool night, but tolerably comfortable with the fire. I didn't get pictures of the fire pit that night, but I did the day before (Hubby decided to test it out on the papers he cleared out of our filing cabinet). I'll post those pictures later... I think my camera fell in love :). You'll have to come back and check it out.

Hi Christine, Thanks for visiting my blog. You asked me if I journal like that every day and yes I do. I started in 2006 when I felt that my prayer life did not impact my life because i couldn't even remember what i prayed about at 10 in the morning. So I drew the bible verse to make sure i remember. the amazing thing is I grew in my gift. Whatever we give to God He multiplies in ways we never envision! I wanted to answer you but you're a no-reply blogger. Btw, this is such a cute idea for birthday party- I am sure all the kids AND adults had a load of FUN!!! Patsy from

What an awesome idea for a birthday party!!! That ought to tire out active kids :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool birthday party! I will have to keep it in the files for when W gets a little older.
ReplyDeleteI love this! What a fun birthday party for a little boy (or girl!) My mom was always so creative with my parties as a kid. I suppose I'll have a lot of online bookmarking to do to keep up with her (and you!) Awesome job. Lucas is going to definitely remember this one.
