Life as I know it

In 2 days, I'm going in for an induction. Lucas was a big baby (8 lbs 15 oz), and it almost seems a rule that subsequent pregnancies produce bigger babies. Plus, although my long glucose tolerance test was negative, the past month I've been "spilling sugars" in my urine at each of my office visits, in progressively larger quantities (by the way, try peeing in a cup when you can't even see it... Pretty tough!). My OB said that this late in the pregnancy it wasn't worth redo-ing the glucose tolerance test, but this has me worried that Jack could be much bigger than Lucas. I told her that I really didn't want to risk ending up with a c-section... Hence the induction on Monday.

Anyways... It is suddenly hitting me that life as we know is going to change drastically. I will have to balance my time between two children instead of just one, and I'm feeling guilty for Lucas, as he has no clue what next week is going to be like. So, I tried making today a little special just by spending more active time with him. We started off with breakfast out. When I got him up this morning, I asked him if he would like to go out to eat with me for breakfast. He asks, "Can I have pancakes?". We went to Burger King (they're quick and have pretty darn good breakfast food for a fast food restaurant).

Burger King happens to be right next to Goodwill. Lucas loves hanging out in the toy section, since it's all "new" toys that he can play with, and I've been trying to keep my eye out for a nice bookshelf for Jack's room. Ugh!!! I totally forgot it was the first Saturday of the month (50% off store-wide day, so it's crazy busy). We actually found some adorable dress clothes and suit jacket for Lucas (his dress pants are getting a wee bit tight). The checkout line was insanely long, but Lucas entertained us all by making me hold my iPhone (which was playing Wiggles) so he could dance to "Move Your Arms Like Henry".

Once we got home, Lucas insisted in following Princess (one of our cats) around the house. He copied the movements she made (climbing through chair and table legs, turning to look in different directions, etc), and he kept asking her "Princess, do you want to go downstairs?" "Princess do you want to run around?" "Princess, do you want to sit?". It was adorable, but I think this kid needs a little brother to play with :)
"Princess, do you want to swim in the water with me?"
After lunch, Lucas and I danced ourselves silly in the living room. I'm surprised the Hokey Pokey didn't put me into labor!

We calm down before nap time by reading a book (or Bible story) or two, and singing some of his favorite songs (at the top of his list are Amazing Grace, Jesus Loves Me, The Doxology, Away in a Manger, and Hush Little Baby).

After nap time, Jason took over entertaining for a little while since I was still so exhausted after our morning activities (I want my energy back). We finished off the evening by taking him back out to Pizza Hut (classy restaurant choices, I know!).
Goofy Daddy :)
